SELENITES (Limb and Terminator)
2023
Video sculpture, 24 flat screens and 4 videos in 9 channels.
These video sculptures show videos of the Moon shot from the 1 meter telescope at the National Observatory in Tonantzintla, Mexico. One of the sculptures displays a composite video of a 360 degree view of the Lunar limb -the visible edge of the Moon’s disc- synchronized as to transit between the screens. The other sculpture is formed by a series of shots of the Moon’s Terminator, the line that divides its light and dark areas as seen from Earth. They are meant as a couple of atlantean sculptures that reconstruct our view of the moon from fragmentary and unstable visual information.
