ECLIPSES FOR CHOLULA
2014
The Eclipses series is meant to be carried out in different locations, emphasizing its attachment to each site without resorting to physical or historical landmarks, but rather adopting it as a point from which to observe the heavens. The perceived transit of the moon in front of the disc of the sun over the course of the next thousand years – a phenomenon visible very sporadically only at certain latitudes, and for a very short amount of time – is the pretext for a commemoration of the future, featuring hundreds of people who represent the eclipses by means of an animated card stunt. The second installment of this series took place on the steps and Plazas around the great pyramid of Cholula, in the state of Puebla. Here, the eclipses of 2291, 2512, 2837, 2938 and 2983 were represented.
